The same exit region can be configured with different paths. Dedicated-route resources generally cost more to schedule and maintain than standard paths, making them better suited to situations where connection stability comes first. You should still confirm that the exit region meets the target service’s requirements; a dedicated route addresses path organization, not region selection, account region, or device settings.

RELAY

Relay Route

A relay route first sends the connection to a more suitable access point, then forwards it through a relay to the target exit. Its value lies in avoiding poor direct paths between the local network and a distant city, allowing the entry and exit points to be managed separately. When regions are far apart, carrier routes take obvious detours, or the target service sits in another network area, a relay usually offers more room for adjustment.

A relay adds path segments, so its quality depends on how the entry point, relay segment, and exit work together. It is not inherently better than a dedicated or direct route, but it can provide a balanced option for everyday browsing, streaming, and AI Tools access. If page loading is inconsistent, try another relay entry point in the same region first.

Direct Route

A direct route establishes a connection from the local network straight to the overseas exit. Its path structure is simpler, with fewer intermediate scheduling steps. When routing between the local carrier and target region is suitable, direct access can handle common needs such as web browsing, message syncing, and short sessions, while making it easy to check whether an exit region fits your goal.

Direct routes are more sensitive to the local network and public cross-border paths, so performance may vary by time or access environment. They typically have lower path-organization costs, but that does not mean direct access is the best choice for every scenario. If the connection fluctuates, keep the same region and compare a relay or IEPL dedicated route.

SELECTION METHOD

Choose the Region, Then the Path

You do not need to test every entry in the full directory. A clearer approach is to confirm the exit region required by the target service, then choose a path based on session length, data-transfer needs, and local access conditions. Change only one factor at a time so you can tell whether a difference comes from the region or the route type.

Confirm the Exit Region

First check whether the target website, content platform, or work system has a specific regional requirement. If not, start with a geographically nearby region. For streaming, choose the region associated with the library you want; for work systems, follow the access region provided by your organization.

Match the Route Type

For long-running sessions, compare IEPL dedicated and relay routes first; for ordinary web pages and short tasks, start with direct access. If the target region offers only one route type, there is no need to change regions just because of the label—the exit location remains the main factor in regional identification.

Validate with a Real Task

After connecting, open the website, app, or work system you actually need and check login, page loading, file transfers, and persistent connections. Everyday Browsing

Everyday websites, research, and message syncing usually do not require a specific exit region, so you can start with a direct or relay entry in Asia-Pacific. Proximity is only an initial filter, not a guarantee of results; if the first page loads normally but later resources do not, switch to a relay in the same region while keeping other settings unchanged.

When browsing multiple international websites, use rule-based split routing: send cross-border requests through international routes while keeping local services on the existing network. This reduces unnecessary path changes and makes it easier to determine whether a website issue is related to the exit region.

Streaming

For streaming, first choose an exit region that matches the target library, then check the streaming support listed in the table. Login status, subscription region, content rights, and platform detection rules can all affect what appears, so route support does not mean every account will see the same content. After changing regions, close the existing playback page and reopen it to avoid retaining the previous region in the old session.

If the platform opens but playback is inconsistent, compare relay and IEPL dedicated routes in the same region. Do not switch to another library region first: connection performance may change, but the content range will change too, making the comparison inconclusive.

AI Tools

AI Tools web sessions, file uploads, and continuous generation depend on stable persistent connections. First confirm which service regions the tool supports, then start with a relay or IEPL dedicated route in the matching region. If the login page works but generation is frequently interrupted, keep the exit region unchanged and switch only the route type to rule out interference from regional detection.

Old browser login states, workspace permissions, and service-side policies can also affect access. A route only handles the network path; it does not change the account’s access scope. Switching and Troubleshooting

Switch Within the Same Region

When the exit region is correct but the connection does not fit the task, switch route types within the same region first. This keeps the region seen by the target service broadly consistent and focuses the comparison on path differences. Changing the city and route type together makes the result difficult to attribute.

Switch Across Regions

Change the exit region only when the target service requires another area, the content library must change, or the current regional entry does not suit the task. After switching, reopen the target website or app so the new session uses the new network path.

Changes in the Device Network
